What cosmetic packaging can you produce?

Extrusion blow molding suits cosmetic bottles with oval or asymmetric shapes, offset necks and soft-touch walls that stretch blow molding cannot form.

Typical cosmetic containers

  • Lotion and cream bottles with pump or disc-top closures
  • Serum and dropper bottles from 5 ml
  • Shampoo and conditioner bottles up to 1 L
  • Spray and toner bottles with fine-thread necks
  • Clear PETG bottles for premium skincare lines

What matters in production

  • Surface quality: polished molds and stable melt temperature for a gloss or matte finish without die lines
  • Neck precision: consistent thread and sealing dimensions so pumps and caps fit without leaks
  • Color changes: short purge time when switching masterbatch between small batches
  • Light weight: parison wall control keeps gram weight low on thin bottles
  • Multi-cavity output: 2, 3 or 4 heads for small bottles

Auxiliary equipment for a cosmetic bottle line

Add downstream equipment according to bottle size and shape. Very small bottles that do not stand stably on a conveyor are usually inspected off-line.

Neck trimming machine

Removes neck flash and the dome left by blow-pin calibration on round bottles, leaving a flat, clean sealing surface.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Which blow molding machine is used for cosmetic bottles?

Cosmetic bottles from 5 ml to 3 L are made on small extrusion blow molding machines. KSY45 and KSY50 cover serum, toner and lotion bottles up to 2 L, while KSY55 and KSY65 cover shampoo and refill bottles up to 3 L.

Can an extrusion blow molding machine make transparent cosmetic bottles?

Yes. PETG gives glass-like clarity in extrusion blow molding. It needs a dedicated screw design and dried resin, so KSY supplies a PETG extrusion blow molding machine for 50 ml to 2 L clear bottles.

How many cavities can a small cosmetic bottle machine run?

Small EBM machines can be fitted with 2, 3 or 4 die heads. The number depends on bottle diameter and the mold width the platen can take.

Planning a cosmetic bottle project?

Send KSY your bottle drawing, resin and target output. We will recommend the machine model, number of cavities and mold design.
