Food Packaging Blow Molding Machines

KSY extrusion blow molding machines produce sauce bottles, jars, edible oil and juice bottles from 10 ml to 6 L in HDPE and PP, with multi-layer EVOH barrier options for products that need a longer shelf life.

Containers

Food containers made by extrusion blow molding

Extrusion blow molding suits food bottles that need a squeezable wall, a handle or an oxygen barrier layer, which stretch blow molded PET cannot provide.

HDPE and PP food bottles and jars made by extrusion blow molding

Sauce and condiment bottles

Squeezable ketchup, mayonnaise and dressing bottles in PP or multi-layer structures.

Jars and wide-mouth containers

Jam, honey, nut butter and seasoning jars with accurate neck finish for induction seals.

Edible oil and juice bottles from extrusion blow molding

Edible oil and juice bottles

Handle bottles for cooking oil and HDPE bottles for juice and dairy drinks.

Typical food containers

  • Ketchup, mayonnaise and dressing bottles
  • Jam, honey and seasoning jars
  • Edible oil bottles with integral handle, 1 to 5 L
  • Juice, milk and yogurt drink bottles
  • Soy sauce and vinegar bottles

What matters in production

  • Food-contact resin: food-grade HDPE and PP grades processed without contamination
  • Oxygen barrier: an EVOH layer protects sauces and juices from oxidation
  • Neck finish: flat, calibrated necks for induction seals and tamper-evident caps
  • Hot filling: PP structures keep their shape at filling temperature
  • Clean production: enclosed material feeding and automatic deflashing
Machine selection

Choose by container volume first, then decide whether the product needs a barrier layer.

Barrier or single layer? Dry foods, edible oil and short shelf-life dairy usually run in single-layer HDPE or PP. Oxygen-sensitive sauces and juices need a multi-layer wall with EVOH.

Complete line

Auxiliary equipment for a food container line

Liquid food bottles are leak tested before packing, and neck trimming gives the flat sealing surface induction seals need.

Bottle leak testing machine

Pressure-decay testing catches pinholes and weak pinch-off welds before bottles are packed. Best suited to bottles that travel stably on a conveyor.

Leak testers →

Neck trimming machine

Removes neck flash and the dome left by blow-pin calibration on round bottles, leaving a flat, clean sealing surface.

Neck trimmers →

Empty bottle packing machine

Collates and bags regular round or square bottles automatically, cutting manual packing labor at the end of the line.

Conveyor belt

Carries bottles from the machine to downstream stations and returns flash to the crusher for recycling.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Which blow molding machine is used for food bottles and jars?

Food bottles and jars from 10 ml to 3 L are made on small extrusion blow molding machines such as KSY55 and KSY65. Edible oil handle bottles of 4 to 6 L run on the KSY75.

Why do ketchup and sauce bottles use multi-layer co-extrusion?

Sauces oxidize when oxygen passes through the bottle wall. A multi-layer bottle places an EVOH barrier between PP or HDPE layers, which blocks oxygen and extends shelf life while keeping the bottle squeezable.

Which plastic is safe for food packaging in blow molding?

Food-grade HDPE and PP are the standard materials for blow molded food containers. PP is chosen for hot-fill products, HDPE for milk, juice and oil, and PETG where a clear container is wanted.
